After the second rehearsal
of mainly Albert King material, it was decided to move straight into
original material. The addition of Owen Gray on piano
introduced another vocal dimension away from Ian Wilks's
hard edged rock style.
This allowed the band to develop material that slipped
off into different directions. Big Goose began introducing new songs
on a weekly basis and encouraged the whole band in song writing and
production.
Both BG and LG polished the arrangements - the band worked
as one unit all heading in the same direction. The plethora of new
material that resulted will form the foundation for the next couple
of albums.
BG's passing in October was a huge blow to Brother Goose
and a great loss to the Australian rock and blues music industry.
The material that he co-wrote and arranged will live
on within Brother Goose - BG's legacy of making good music "mighty" is
not only encouraging for the people he played with - but a fantastic
testimony to the ideal that is performance itself. He is sadly missed
- but will never be forgotten. Goose's attitude and sense of humour
will remain forever with anyone who ever knew him!
While the Brother Goose line up has seen some changes
since BG's departure; the essence of the grooves and feels are solidly
locked into the band. As he used to repeat after almost every gig -
"Mighty!"
